About the Wellness Policy

The Wellness Policy is an important tool for families, schools, and Stockton Unified School District in promoting student wellness, preventing and reducing childhood obesity, and ensuring that school meal nutrition guidelines meet minimum federal school meal standards.

The District's Wellness Policy supports a whole-child approach to student health and well-being while helping schools create environments that encourage healthy choices, physical activity, and student success.

Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child

The Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) approach, outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), includes ten components that support student health, well-being, and success.

Nutrition Services
Physical Education and Physical Activity
Health Education
Health Services
Safe Physical Environment
Safe Social and Emotional Climate

The District's Wellness Policy supports this whole-child approach and complies with the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010.
