CalPERS 2026 Medical Open Enrollment for Retirees
The 2026 CalPERS Medical Annual Open Enrollment for Retirees was held from September 15, 2025 through October 10, 2025.
Medical plan or coverage changes made through CalPERS during the annual open enrollment period became effective on January 1, 2026 for the 2026 benefit plan year.
The District’s early retiree medical reimbursement amount changes for eligible retirees began with the December 30, 2025 pay warrant.
Retirees should contact CalPERS with questions about their medical plan or for enrollment assistance.

Thinking about or planning to retire and want to know your health benefit options? It is recommended that you begin preparing for your retirement at least one year in advance. Starting at the one year mark, you should access your myCalPERS or myCalSTRS online account to review the available resources, use the retirement pension estimate calculator and attend virtual or in-person retirement education classes.
The Benefits Department will hold virtual and in-person Retirement Planning Workshops at various times throughout the year. Early Retirees
“Early Retirees” are those who are between age 55 – 64 and are eligible to receive the District’s retiree medical reimbursement.

- *SUSU Unit Only* 2026 Early Retiree Medical Reimbursement Rates - (Hired Before 7/1/2003)
*PERS Platinum PPO is the only CalPERS medical plan that offers coverage to retirees outside of California

Medicare Supplemental Plans & Retiree Coverage
CalPERS Medicare Supplemental Plans
Retirees age 65 or older who are enrolled in Medicare Part B may be eligible for CalPERS supplemental health plans.

COBRA Dental, Vision & Chiropractic Coverage
Employees age 65 or older at retirement may elect to continue District dental, vision, and/or chiropractic coverage through COBRA for up to 18 months.
