ParentSquare SmartSite Do's and Don'ts
✅ DO
Use the Clear Formatting or Paste as Plain Text option before pasting content into SmartSite to ensure fonts, sizes, and styles remain consistent with district standards.
If you want your page or app name to appear as the header, make sure Show App Name is enabled in your SmartSite page settings.
Write short, meaningful alt text (approximately 125 characters) for every uploaded image to maintain ADA accessibility compliance.
When inserting links, select Target: Open in New Window so visitors remain on your school or district website.
Always sign out of your SmartSite editor when walking away from your computer to protect your account and website content.
❌ DON'T
Avoid non-standard colors. Content text should remain black except for minimal emphasis, such as one or two words in red.
Your SmartSite access is tied to your ParentSquare account. Never share your username or password to prevent unauthorized access and security risks.
Only staff who have completed approved ParentSquare SmartSite training and have authorization from their principal or director should be given editing permissions.
Doing so may introduce unwanted formatting, fonts, and hidden code that can affect the appearance and accessibility of your webpage.
Text embedded within images cannot be read by screen readers and may not meet accessibility requirements.
Before deleting pages, files, or apps, verify they are no longer needed. When in doubt, contact the Webmaster for assistance.
