About Us
The Preschool Assessment & Autism Center (PAAC) processes all SUSD Preschool special education referrals in one centralized location. Students are assessed in areas of suspected disabilities by qualified professionals including School Psychologists, Speech and Language Pathologists, Special Education Teachers, and a School Nurse.
PAAC operates 19 Special Day Classes for preschool-aged children with Autism across three campuses. All services are aligned to each child’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) using evidence-based instructional practices.

Program & Services
Services include Specialized Academic Instruction, Functional Communication, Sensory Motor Development, and Socialization based on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
Each classroom includes a Special Education Preschool Teacher and trained paraprofessionals. Families are supported by an Administrator, Speech and Language Pathologists, a BCBA/Autism Specialist, Inclusion Specialist, and Program Specialist.
Student progress is monitored daily through structured data collection. Placement decisions are individualized, and families are active partners in the IEP process with General Education as the long-term goal.
Parent education is central to our program. Monthly Parent Coffees address Functional Communication, Positive Behavior Supports, Inclusion, Self-Help Skills, Autism 101, and PECS.
