The communications team also manages the District’s social media presence on Facebook, Twitter (X), Instagram, and YouTube, and is responsible for oversight of website content.

Crisis Communication Methods
During an emergency, Stockton Unified School District (SUSD) communicates through multiple channels to ensure timely, accurate updates for staff, families, and our community. Our goal is to keep everyone informed and reassured while prioritizing safety.
Who We Notify

When We Communicate
Families can expect notifications for the following situations:
- Gas leak
- Lockdown
- Natural disasters (air quality, excessive heat, fires, flooding, etc.)
- Police activity near a school
- Power outage affecting instructional time
- Threat against a school
- Weapon on campus (firearm or knife brandished)
Additional updates may be sent through phone calls or app alerts as needed.
Safety Assurance
SUSD is committed to keeping all students and staff safe at school. In the event of severe weather or another emergency where outdoor conditions are unsafe, schools will shelter students and staff in place until it is safe to dismiss or release individuals. Parents and guardians will receive updates through ParentSquare and official SUSD channels.
