When We Communicate

Families can expect notifications for the following situations:

  • Gas leak
  • Lockdown
  • Natural disasters (air quality, excessive heat, fires, flooding, etc.)
  • Police activity near a school
  • Power outage affecting instructional time
  • Threat against a school
  • Weapon on campus (firearm or knife brandished)

Additional updates may be sent through phone calls or app alerts as needed.

Safety Assurance

SUSD is committed to keeping all students and staff safe at school. In the event of severe weather or another emergency where outdoor conditions are unsafe, schools will shelter students and staff in place until it is safe to dismiss or release individuals. Parents and guardians will receive updates through ParentSquare and official SUSD channels.
