Open Enrollment Grades K-12

Open Enrollment Grades TK-12

2026-2027 School Year

Open Enrollment offers SUSD students an opportunity to attend schools outside their attendance area. The Superintendent or designee determines the capacity of each school through a random, unbiased selection process. If there are more requests than spaces, a waiting list will be established, followed by a rank order to systemize students potentially accepted. Applications are only accepted within the dates listed below.

High School

Application Window: March 2nd – March 31st

*NOTE*: Current 2025-2026 8th-grade students must use the High School application.

Elementary School (K-8)

Application Window: March 2nd – March 31st

Priority will be given to students who live within their assigned school boundaries, known as their home school.

All students who submit applications by the end of the open enrollment period will be considered for admission to their school of choice for the following school year. Requests submitted after the period will be reviewed if space is available.

Upon acceptance, the accepting school becomes the student’s school of attendance for the grades offered at that school. Transportation is the responsibility of parents/guardians if the student lives outside their home school.

Students accepted are expected to:

  • Demonstrate daily and positive attendance.
  • Comply with all state laws, district policies, and school rules.
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress.

Students wishing to return to their neighborhood school must reapply during the open enrollment period. Some grade levels may be impacted by class size and space availability. Online Open Enrollment is available only for students currently enrolled in SUSD.

For families new to SUSD or outside the district boundaries, please visit the New Student Enrollment page for more information.
