Chronic Absenteeism
Did you know?
Attendance Awareness
Regular attendance helps students stay connected, engaged, and successful in school.
Understanding Chronic Absenteeism
Chronic absenteeism means a student misses 10% or more of the school year for any reason.
Just 8 days absent in the first semester can place a student at risk.
Students who miss school frequently often experience lower academic achievement.
Excusing Absences
- You have five school days to excuse an absence.
- After five days, the absence becomes unexcused.
- Please notify the school each day your child is absent due to illness.
When to Keep Your Child Home
- 🤒 Fever
- 🤢 Vomiting
- 💧 Diarrhea
- ⚠️ Unexplained rash
Contact your school if your child is sick.
Doctor's Note Requirement
After 14 days of excused absences, a doctor's note will be required for each additional excused absence.
📌 Keep medical documentation for future absences.
