Healthy School Food Pathway

Program Announcement

Stockton Unified Continues as a Host District for the Healthy School Food Pathway

Child Nutrition & Food Services Department  |  Stockton Unified School District

Stockton Unified School District's Child Nutrition Department has proudly served as a Host District for the Chef Ann Foundation's Healthy School Food Pathway (HSFP) program since last year.

The Healthy School Food Pathway is a workforce development initiative designed to support aspiring and existing school food professionals in gaining the skills they need to create and manage successful K-12 scratch-cook meal operations.

As a Host District, our Child Nutrition Department currently supports both Pre-Apprentices and Apprentices, giving them hands-on, work-based learning experience in day-to-day scratch-cooking school food operations right here in Stockton Unified kitchens.

Building the Next Generation of School Food Professionals

Pre-Apprentices

Building foundational scratch-cooking skills through hands-on kitchen training alongside our Child Nutrition team.

Apprentices

Advancing their careers in school nutrition operations with structured, on-the-job experience and mentorship.

Since joining the program, our partnership with the Chef Ann Foundation has connected our team with individuals who are passionate about healthy school food and scratch cooking, while giving our staff access to technical assistance that supports day-to-day scratch cooking operations.

It supports our ongoing efforts to expand scratch cooking, improve student health and learning outcomes, and advance environmental sustainability goals — from reducing food waste to sourcing more ingredients locally.

We're proud to continue growing the next generation of school food professionals within our own department, as we carry forward our work to serve fresh, delicious, and nourishing meals to Stockton Unified students.
