Home Hospital Instruction (HHI)

Supporting Students. Supporting Healing.

Home Hospital Instruction provides temporary educational services to students who are unable to attend school due to a medical or psychiatric condition. Our goal is to support your child’s academic progress while they focus on recovery.

How the Process Works

Submit Request

Complete the HHI Request Form and upload all required documentation.

Review

Our team will review your request and may contact you for additional information.

Approval

You will be notified of the decision. If approved, instruction will be arranged.

Instruction Begins

HHI services will begin based on the student’s individual needs.

Required Uploads

You must upload the following based on the type of referral:

If Physician Certification is selected:

  • Physician Certification completed
  • Treatment Plan
  • Authorization for Release of Health Information
  • Additional Medical Documentation, as needed

If Psychiatrist Certification is selected:

  • Psychiatrist Certification completed
  • Agency Release of Information
  • Treatment Plan
  • Authorization for Release of Health Information
  • Psychiatric Evaluation or documentation, as needed

i Additional documents such as transcripts, IEP/504 plans, or school schedules may also be requested.

Need Assistance Completing the Form?

If a parent, guardian, or district staff member is unable to submit the HHI request themselves, a completed Parent Authorization to Submit HHI Request form will be required.

How long does the HHI process take?

Processing times may vary depending on the completeness of the request and required documentation.

How long can my child receive HHI?

HHI is temporary and based on the student’s documented medical or psychiatric need.

Will my child keep the same teacher?

Instruction will be coordinated based on staffing, student needs, and district procedures.

What if my child’s condition improves?

Please contact the HHI team so the district can review the student’s return-to-school plan.

Can HHI be extended?

Extensions will require an Extension Application with supporting documentation and will be subject to district review.

What if my child receives Special Education services?

Students receiving Special Education services outside of RSP should contact the Special Education Department for HHI assistance.

What documents will I need?

Required documents depend on whether the request is based on physician or psychiatrist certification.
