Welcome to Risk Management
The Risk Management Department of Stockton Unified School District is dedicated to promoting a safe, healthy, and secure environment for all students, staff, and visitors. Our team works proactively to identify, assess, and mitigate risks that could impact the District’s operations, assets, and overall well-being.
Risk Management services include employee safety programs, workers’ compensation, liability claims management, insurance coverage, and support for leave and return-to-work processes. We also collaborate with departments across the District to ensure compliance with safety regulations and to foster a culture of preparedness and prevention.
Our commitment is to protect the District’s resources while supporting the health and safety of our school communities. Through professional service, responsive support, and strategic risk solutions, Risk Management helps maintain safe and thriving learning environments.
What We Do
- Oversee and manage workers’ compensation claims and support employees through the injury recovery process
- Administer liability and property insurance for the District’s assets and operations
- Manage employee leave options, including coordination of medical leaves, FMLA, and return-to-work programs
- Conduct ergonomic evaluations for staff to promote safe and healthy workspaces
- Investigate and process incident reports, including employee, student, and visitor accidents
- Handle student accident reports and student athletic accident reports
- Provide guidance on risk assessment and mitigation strategies for District activities and facilities
- Conduct workplace safety inspections, training, and ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards
- Support emergency preparedness and crisis response planning
- Maintain up-to-date insurance certificates and vendor compliance for District contracts
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and prevention across all school sites and departments
