Stockton Unified School District

In June 2019, Stockton Unified schools receiving Title I funding initiated a review and revision of Year 3 (2019-2020) of the exisiting three year School Plan for Student Achievement plans.

The revisions took into account the accomplishments and barriers of implementation and effectiveness of strategies set forth and project for the three-year plan period.

In addition, the California Department of Education implemented several Education Code and requierement changes:

• Plan Title Change – Education Code 64002, changed the name of the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) to School Plan for Students Achievement (SPSA). The intent of the plan continues as the school site’s plan to improve student achievement.
• Charter Schools – Education Code 52062(a), clarified that charter schools had the option to use their LCAP as their school plan for improvement. The district has opted for its five (5) dependent charter schools (Nightingale Elementary, Pittman Elementary, Health Careers Academy, Pacific Law Academy, and Stockton Early College Academy) to continue the use of the SPSA in Year 3. The dependent charter schools will ensure their educational program is identified and aligned with their LCAP, which is also in alignment with the district’s LCAP.
• Revised Template – The State Board of Education approved the use of the revised SPSA template and made it available for School Year 2019 – 2020. The revised template is a mandated format that includes specific components to meet Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI), Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI), or Additional Targeted Support and Improvement (ATSI) criteria.
• Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) – In January 2019, nine (9) schools were identified as Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI). These CSI schools (Adams Elementary, Fillmore Elementary, Hazelton Elementary, Hoover Elementary, Monroe Elementary, Roosevelt Elementary, Taft Elementary, Taylor Leadership Academy, and Washington Elementary) have ensured through coordination of efforts with district departments/staff consultation and support was identified and provided.

The following plans are being presented at the June 11, 2019 Board of Trustees Informational Meeting and at the June 25, 2019 Board of Trustees Action Meeting for approval.
