Mass Notifications and Emergency Communications

During an emergency or urgent situation, Stockton Unified School District communicates through multiple channels to provide timely and accurate updates to staff, families, and the community. SUSD uses ParentSquare as one of its official communication platforms for districtwide, school, classroom, and emergency notifications. Depending on the situation, updates may also be shared through the District website, official social media channels, email, phone calls, press releases, and verified public statements.

Employees may receive important updates through:

When Notifications May Be Sent

  • Gas leak
  • Lockdown
  • Natural disasters, including air quality, excessive heat, fires, or flooding
  • Police activity near a school
  • Power outage affecting instructional time
  • Threat against a school
  • Weapon on campus
  • School closures, delays, or urgent district updates

Safety Assurance

SUSD is committed to keeping students and staff safe. During severe weather or another emergency where outdoor conditions are unsafe, schools may shelter students and staff in place until it is safe to dismiss or release individuals. Parents and guardians will receive updates through ParentSquare and other official SUSD communication channels.

Need Help or Need to Update Contact Information?

Families should make sure their phone number, email address, and emergency contact information are current with their school office so they can receive important notifications. Staff needing assistance with mass notifications or communication tools may contact Community Relations.
