In 2019, SUSD recieved a 1.5 million dollar grant from the California Department of Education to address chronic abseentism regarding school attendance. Chronic abseentism is defined as students who miss more than 10% of their school year. Using the Multi-Tiered System of Support, we are able to provide homevists, targeted support for families in need. This grant has allowed us to provide programs such as the Willie B. Adkins Scholars Program at our area high schools. In addition, these grant funds have provided additional support for our Foster Youth Transition Initiative.
