Then at 2:00 pm, Kinder - 3rd grade will participate in the Halloween parade around the school while our 4th - 8th grade students watch! Below are the same costume guidelines your child took home earlier this week:
- All students wearing costumes to school MUST read and understand the costume guidelines. If a child arrives to the school with a costume that does not follow the guidelines, they will be sent to the office to call home and change.
- All costume preparations are to be completed at home. No dressing or applying make-up or colored hairspray at school or in the school’s restrooms.
- NO BLOW UP COSTUMES.
- No masks or full face paint is to be worn during the school day. We need to see faces and to know who is here and who should not be here.
- No head coverings unless it is part of the costume. (i.e. If a student is only wearing a baseball cap and claiming he is a baseball player that is not acceptable.)
- No costumes that depict violence or violent characters. No props or costumes that are meant to simulate a weapon or promote acts of violence. No fake weapons of any kind will be permitted.
- No trench coats.
- Costumes may not be demeaning to any ethnic group, race, religion, nationality, disabilities, gender (boys as girls and vice versa), or individual (staff or student) at the school.
- Costumes that promote the use of illegal substances or activities, or are derogatory or disrespectful are NOT allowed. No revealing costumes are allowed.
- Teachers may take away any accessory that is used improperly or is considered inappropriate at school.
- School rules regarding the dress code must be followed in regards to extremely brief garments or clothing that is dangerous (usually unsafe footwear).
- Faculty and staff can use their discretion in modifying costumes or having students change if they feel a particular costume is a distraction to learning or in violation of our Code of Conduct.
- Students and parents – if you are not sure; don’t wear it! If you have questions, contact Ms. Duangsawat, Principal; or Mr. Hernandez, Assistant Principal.
- Students wearing inappropriate costumes will be sent to the office to call home for a change of clothes.
- Costumes should not hinder your ability to participate in class (including Physical Education). Costumes must be worn all day. There will be no changing clothes in the restroom.
KEEP IN MIND WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE THIS TRADITION HERE AT FILLMORE TO DRESS UP FOR HALLOWEEN, AND WE WOULD LIKE TO MAKE THIS A TRADITION FOR THE FUTURE.
