About the Teacher

  • William Buth

December 1980, I came here as a refugee from Cambodia. My first years in Stockton were mostly working in the fields since the mornings until afternoon,  and going to School for Adults during the evenings. I went to Delta College in 1984 and later got an AA degree in computer science.  Through the Community Involvement Program (CIP) scholarship given by the University of the Pacific and SUSD, I’ve been able to continue my education at UOP majoring in Mathematics Education. After receiving my BA diploma and my teaching credential, I taught Math over at the former middle school, Daniel Webster School for 9 years. After that I transferred to Chavez High School where I taught Math again for 7 years. This will be my eleventh year teaching Math at the Health Careers Academy High School.
