• August ELAC

August parents form an integral part of the educational process that results from the partnership among school, family, and community.  In order for parents of English learners (EL) and Reclassified Fluent English Proficient (R-FEP) students to successfully participate in their children's education, they must be well infored of all school and district activities, procedures, and policies that directly affect their children.  August parents are encouraged to participate in all committiees to advice at the school, district, and Board level on services for English learners and R-FEP students.

As stipulated by educational codes, whenever twenty-one or more ELs are enrolled at a school site, the site establishes a funcitoning English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) that advises the school on program and services for English learners.  The committee is comprised of parents, with parents of English learners making up the majority of members.  August parents of English learners are represened in at leaset the same percentage of the EL student enrollment at the school site.  ELAC officers are voted into their roles and serve terms as dictated by our August ELAC Bylaws.

August parents of English learners (EL) are encouraged to participate in their children's education and be active in assisting their children to attain English proficiency, achieve academically at high levels, and meet state standards. Parents of English learners receive information about how to help their children achieve these goals from the district and the school sites in written communications sent home.  Parents are given information about the English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) and District English Learner Parent Advisory Committee when they attend our meetings.

For more information regarding our ELAC, please contact, our Community Assist, Mr. Francisco Figueroa at (209) 645-6253 or ffigueroa@stocktonusd.net
