2016-2017 WELCOME LETTER FROM PRINCIPAL
Welcome to Pittman Charter School for the 2016-2017 school year! We feel it is a privilege to be part of this dedicated learning community. Our school theme for this year is: “Parents as Partners”. We will strive to provide the best education possible for your child. Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s education. We take this very seriously! Please be sure and read with or to your child at least 30 minutes every day! Students in grades 5th-8th may read on their own.
In addition, Junior League of Stockton is going to continue reading with our students in first grade, helping us with our clothes closet, and supporting our Reading Challenge. Delta Rotary helps us with books and to send our fifth-grade students to science camp. This year our date is the week of October 10th, 2016.
This year we are going to permit students to wear school appropriate clothing. We trust that you will send your child to school in clothing that will not be distracting to the learning environment. We want our focus to be learning! Please, no red clothing, tank tops, or flip-flops.
The first day of class is Tuesday, August 9, 2016. Class begins at 8:05 a.m. and ends at 2:05 p.m.
In addition, cell phones will be put in a basket or box every morning and returned at the end of the day or period depending on the grade level. They have become too much of a distraction to our learning environment. Thank you for your support in providing an exceptional school.
You are the best and most important teacher of your child! Please come to school or call the office if you have a question, doubt, or comment. You are such an important part in the school life of your child.
