Principal's Message

Hello McKinley Families!

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a chance to relax and enjoy your family. The new year brings the opportunity to make new commitments to improve our lives. At McKinley, we are under construction! Our grass area is receiving special attention to fill in the patches of missing grass and upgrade the sprinklers. We will be receiving new shade structures in our PreK/TK/K play area, primary playground and behind the cafeteria to provide shade and a new learning space. We are very excited!

In addition, our dedicated staff has been working diligently to prepare engaging lessons and a positive learning environment, and we are eager to see the progress and achievements our students will make during the remainder of the school year. It is very important that your student attends school regularly. Getting back into the habit of daily attendance matters more than ever. Going to school is an opportunity for your student to:

• Build routines that help reduce stress
• Connect to their friends and  teachers
• Engage in learning.  

When students attend regularly, they are much more likely to read proficiently by third grade, do well in middle school and graduate.

Now is a great time to check in and see how your student is doing. Have you met with your child’s teacher? Did you receive a grade progress report just before the winter break? It is very important that staff and families are working together to support our students. Please reach out to your student’s teacher through the REMIND app or phone the office to leave a message.

 ¡Hola Familias McKinley!

¡Feliz Año Nuevo! Espero que todos hayan podido relajarse y disfrutar de su familia. El nuevo año trae la oportunidad de hacer nuevos compromisos para mejorar nuestras vidas. En McKinley, ¡estamos en construcción! Nuestra área de césped está recibiendo atención especial para rellenar los parches de césped que faltan y mejorar los regadores. Estaremos recibiendo nuevas estructuras de sombra en nuestra área de recreo PreK/TK/K, área de recreo de primaria y detrás de la cafetería para proveer sombra y un nuevo espacio de aprendizaje. ¡Estamos muy emocionados!

Además, nuestro dedicado personal ha estado trabajando diligentemente para preparar lecciones atractivas y un ambiente de aprendizaje positivo, y estamos ansiosos por ver el progreso y los logros que nuestros estudiantes harán durante el resto del año escolar. Es muy importante que su estudiante asista a la escuela con regularidad. Recuperar el hábito de la asistencia diaria es más importante que nunca. Ir a la escuela es una oportunidad para que su alumno:

• Crear rutinas que ayuden a reducir el estrés.
• Conectarse con sus amigos y profesores.
• Participar en el aprendizaje.

Cuando los estudiantes asisten con regularidad, es mucho más probable que lean con competencia para el tercer grado, les vaya bien en la escuela intermedia y se gradúen.

Ahora es un buen momento para revisar y ver cómo le está yendo a su estudiante. ¿Se ha reunido con la maestra de su hijo? ¿Recibió un informe de progreso justo antes de las vacaciones de invierno? Es muy importante que el personal y las familias estén trabajando juntos para apoyar a nuestros estudiantes. Por favor, póngase en contacto con la maestra de su estudiante a través de la aplicación REMIND o llame a la oficina para dejar un mensaje.
