    Class of 2021--Information for Seniors

    **Plan time during October and November breaks to work on college applications and scholarship application packets.**

     

    University of California (UC)

    • Apply online at www.universityofcalifornia.edu
    • You will need:
      • ACT with Writing or SAT by December
      • Some majors recommend SAT Subject Tests
      • Personal Statement
      • Fee - $70/campus (Application for fee waiver available online for up to 4 applications)
      • CSIS ID # (State ID # listed on transcript)
    • UC approved courses at https://doorways.ucop.edu/list/

     

    California State University (CSU)

    • Apply online at www.csumentor.edu
    • You will need:
      • The ACT or SAT by December
      • Application
      • Fee - $55/campus (Application for fee waiver available online for up to 4 applications)
      • CSIS ID # (State ID # listed on transcript)
      • Spring placement tests (register on the CSU Mentor website, $36 fee)

     

    University of the Pacific

    • Apply online at http://www.pacific.edu/
    • The application can be found online after September 1st or you can apply on the Common App (for private colleges).
    • You will need:
      • The ACT or SAT by December
      • Application ($35)
      • Personal Statement recommended
      • Letter of Academic Recommendation recommended (give at least 2-week notice)

     

    Delta College

    • Go online to apply for admission in April-May
    • Get EAP test results or take Placement Assessments
    • Participate in Group Advising at Delta to register

     

    Common Application

    Go online to apply for private schools.  Due dates and application fees vary by school.

     

    SAT Test:  English, Math, and Writing

    • Register online at www.sat.collegeboard.org
    • Cost=$46/$60 (with essay)  Fee waivers available – ask your counselor.
    • SAT Subject tests offered on the same dates listed below. Cost for subject tests is $26 + $21 per test (waiver available)
    • Send results directly to colleges, 4 included in the cost.
    • CSU Mentor Code is 3594

    **Go online for practice tests and study guides or download apps to help you study for the SAT and ACT. Take both the SAT and ACT to be competitive.**

     

    ACT Information

    • Register online at www.actstudent.org
    • Take ACT WITH WRITING to keep your options open.
    • Cost = $62.50  Fee waivers available – ask your counselor ($46.00 without Writing).
    • Send results directly to colleges, 4 included in the cost.

Scholarship/Financial Aid

    Scholarship information is posted online at

    Scholarship applications will be posted before the catalog. Don't wait for the catalog. Complete the application early and turn in the packet to your counselor. When the catalog comes out, talk to your counselor to review scholarships you qualify for and update your application packet as needed.

    Financial Aid Steps:

    1. Complete your Financial Aid Application: FAFSA/CADAA
    2. Check your e-mail for the Student Aid Report (SAR).  Make corrections, sign and return the SAR.
    3. Review Financial Aid packages from colleges.
    4. Create a Webgrants Account for Students.

     

    College Financial Aid

    • Apply online at FAFSA/CADAA
    • You will need copies of your family’s taxes
    • Students will need to check that their GPA was received and matched to their FAFSA by logging into Web grants at https://mygrantinfo.csac.ca.gov/logon.asp
    • Cash for College Nights at Comprehensive High Schools in January and February to get help with FAFSA

     

    Senior Year Costs and Activities

    Senior Costs are approximately  $850-$1,150

    • Cap and Gown  $60 (+ more if ordering graduation announcements)
    • Senior Pictures  $50 and up!
    • Grad Night  $309 + spending $$
    • College application costs = $200 - $400 and up
      • SAT = $60.00
      • ACT = $62.50
      • AP or SAT Subject Tests = $36-$89
      • Application fees = $55 – 70 per school
      • Apply for college application fee waivers online during application process
      •  Ask your counselor about fee waivers for SAT and ACT
    • Prom  $250- $300 per person
