Academic Hour

The academic hour is a daily activity in the after-school program where staff and volunteers reinforce what the students have learned throughout the school day. One of the goals of the academic hour is to help the children succeed in school by providing extra support. Staff and volunteers get to review basic math and language arts fundamentals and assist students in the areas they need help in. Other things staff and volunteers work on our building the children’s vocabulary and homework help. The academic hour is beneficial because the students get to receive extra support when they are not with their teacher or parents and it increases the amount of exposure to the Common Core.
