Dear King School Families,
Welcome back! I hope you had a wonderful summer and are relaxed, recharged and are ready to start a new school year. I am so happy that you are part of our amazing learning community. We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you.
This past year, we were able to bring back our regular Student of the Month assemblies that recognize students for their achievements. We loved seeing our families back on campus for events that celebrate students! Additionally, we celebrated students throughout the year for being leaders, being AVID ready, being math whizzes, and improving attendance. We saw a slight improvement in attendance, but hope to see more next school year. Daily attendance is critical to be a successful student.
This next year, we will be focusing on helping our students work together as a community of learners by encouraging them to work collaboratively, be problem solvers and be reflective learners. We will continue to expand our STEM and CTE. We will also be looking at adding more after school activities for our students and families. We want our students to be well-rounded individuals in all aspects so that they are ready to take on the world. Our mission is to empower our students to reach their highest potential and inspire excellence for ALL of our students so that they hold no barriers in reaching their goals for their future.
This next year, we will have very little changes in staffing. Our enrollment remains consistent with a little over 1,000 students. Our Head Start will see some staffing changes, but the three classrooms remain. Our King school team is ready and excited to welcome back our students.
Over the course of 30 years at King Elementary, I have watched many of our past students grow into amazing young adults. We are working on creating a “Wall of Fame” for our alumni. As your Principal, I am honored to serve our community and students. I am so proud of our school and the many accomplishments of our students. Let us make it a great school year at Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School! Please save August 8th for Back to School Night, 5:00-6:30. Let’s go lions!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Connie M. Fabian, Principal
