Dear Kennedy Students, Families, and Staff:

It is with great excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the new Interim Principal of Kennedy Elementary School. I feel very fortunate to have been asked to be a part of the Kennedy Community and to help support the students and families we serve. I look forward to the many celebrations and challenges we will all share as a team. My official start date at Kennedy is Wednesday September 16, but I will be working hard with the current administrative team for a couple weeks to ensure a smooth transition.

I have been dedicated to the field of education for more than 20 years.  I have worked with students ranging in age from Kindergarten through 12th grade in a variety of roles. I was a middle school educator (teaching a variety of subjects), a basketball coach, a middle school assistant principal, a high school assistant principal, a non-public school principal, and an elementary school principal. I have been working for SUSD for the last 5 years. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to bring my many skills and experiences as an educational leader to the Kennedy Community.

Although I am an educational leader, I am also a proud father and husband. My wife Sarah and I have 5 amazing children who keep us very busy. We love spending time together and enjoying life to its fullest. I am looking forward to introducing my family to the amazing people that consider Kennedy their “home.” Nothing is more important to me than family and making sure my kids, and yours, are safe and cared for.

I firmly believe that every child can learn and succeed in school and beyond, with partnership between home and school. More importantly, I bring a belief that students are at the center of all school-related decisions. I am excited to unite my experience, my openness to learn, and my child-centered approach to support our students and community. I am devoted to continually exploring new ideas/methods to meet the needs of all students and to involve community members and families more efficiently. Working together this year, we will identify specific goals in the areas of student achievement, school climate, and parent involvement to make Kennedy a better place to learn and grow.  I look forward to meeting you soon!

Mr. Edward P. Taylor, M.Ed., Interim Principal
