It is with great joy that I take this opportunity to be your new Principal for the 2023-2024 school year. I am humbled to lead an extremely dedicated staff and a supportive community that makes Fremont Elementary an excellent place for our students to love learning.
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Ivygail Henderson, and I bring fifteen years of leadership experience in education and business that is passionate about learning and advocates for servant leadership.
My educational journey includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting, a Master of Arts in Elementary Education, and an Educational Specialist Degree in Leadership. I have worked in various educational roles throughout my career, including K-3 Teacher, Grade Level and Department Lead, and Assistant Principal/Director of K-8 school. I had an opportunity to be part of building multiple Charter schools from year zero (dirt) to numerous years of inception as a teacher and as a Founding Administrator. These experiences have provided me with valuable knowledge of understanding the needs of our students, staff, and family.
At Fremont Elementary School, my goal is to build a positive collaborative culture with all our stakeholders to make our students successful. I believe that we can accomplish this through open communication, trust, and relationship building. I encourage parents and guardians to actively engage in their child’s education and participate in school activities such as monthly Coffee Hour, School Site Council (SSC) Meetings, English Learning Advisory Committee (ELAC) meetings, Parent Teacher Association Meetings, and Parent Conferences and other activities planned for the year. This year, the Administration uses the Remind App and Blackboard Weekly Announcements to communicate with our parents. You may call the front office or ask your child’s teacher for instructions on how to sign up for Remind App.
As part of our safety commitment, Freemont is a closed campus. Parents are allowed to enter campus for parent meetings, school activities, or if they have clearance as a volunteer through fingerprinting. I appreciate your cooperation and understanding in ensuring the safety of our students.
Our teachers are working hard to implement bell-to-bell instruction with school hours of 8:35 a.m. to 2:35 p.m., Monday to Friday. For accountability and reporting of records, we encourage our parents to pick up our students by 2:00 p.m. for early release.
I am truly excited to be part of the Bulldog Family this year and looking forward to knowing every one of our students and families. Please feel free to reach me at 209-933-7385.
