Welcome to Transitional Kindergarten! Throughout the year our goal is to build our knowledge in the following areas: letter/sound recognition, writing their own name, learning how to handle/the parts of a book, counting to 30, recognizing 0-9 in print, and being able to identify and group by shapes and colors. However, a main focus in our classroom is the social-emotional aspect. For most of the students this is their first experience in a school setting. This means they are learning how to share, becoming aware of rules and procedures for everyday success, and working on teamwork among classmates. The most important realization that these students will make this year is that asking questions and being curious is wonderful when it comes to learning!
