• Dear Parents and Guardians:

My name is Ms. Alcorn. Some of you may already know who I am since I may have taught one of your students last year. If so, then you know me as Ms. A.I am the ELA and the Social Science Teacher for grade 7. I also teach the Middle School ELD Class. Welcome to our new school year, 2020-2021.

This year your student will be attending school on a full time, daily schedule 100% on line. Your student will receive face to face time instruction through our Google-Classroom Learning Platform, along with online assignments through virtual textbooks and workbooks that you student will be able to keep at the end of the school year.

I will be communicating with you via email either through Teacher VUE or Class Dojo. Please update the school with any new phone numbers or addresses or emails as soon as possible that we may be well connected. Your student will be expected to attend all daily scheduled classes, Monday through Friday. Their class hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 1:35 p.m.

Monday through Friday, your student will be engaged in a Textbook engagement assignment to start their learning off. Each day, by 7:30 a. m., they are to be logged in to their Virtual McGraw Hill Textbook by clicking on their quick links. Their posted assignments will be in Google Classroom. Your student’s first assignments should be posted this coming weekend. By 8:00 a. m., they are to meet in their Google Class Meet where they will work under whole class instruction. Finally, after some collaborative effort to summarize their findings from the Text Engagement activity, they will write a summary, complete notes, and review listed key words from their reading!

Please note that only the students in my 1st. period class will follow these instructions! All other students will follow the instructions according to their other Teachers for their 1st. Period class.

All of the activities for student engagement of the Text previously described is just to get them warmed up for the rest of their required activities in Social Science, ELA, and ELD, if your student has it. Beyond my classes, they will be required to log in and to attend their other Google Meets with their Math and Science Teacher, Mr. Salgado and their Elective Teacher which is their 6th period class of the day!

Following the end of the school day at 1:35 p.m., I will be available until about 2:00 p.m. Please, if you have any questions or concerns regarding your student’s education, feel free to call or email or communicate with me through Class Dojo! Again Welcome! Bienvenidos!
