  • Mrs. Chin, Principal

Letter from our Principal

  • Welcome to the 2023-24 academic school year! It is the greatest honor to serve as your principal for another school year. My ultimate goal this year is to ensure that all students are learning and achieving their best in an environment that is nurturing, welcoming, and caring.

Kennedy School is proud to be an AVID school, focusing on instruction when the entire staff utilizes AVID strategies, other best instructional practices, and 21st century tools to ensure college readiness for AVID Elective students and increased academic performance for all students. AVID Schoolwide instruction incorporates AVID foundational tools (organization tools, note-taking, goal setting, time management); WICOR (writing to learn, inquiry, collaboration, organization, reading to learn) and educators who support each other’s learning. When teachers participate in professional learning opportunities, implement WICOR strategies in their classrooms, and commit to success, they produce a learning environment where all students are equipped to tackle complex issues, problems, and texts.

Kennedy is excited to begin AVID implementation and work. Each teacher/classroom will select and adopt a college or university to celebrate in their classrooms. Each classroom will also receive a college banner to hang outside their door. Classrooms will also create their very own college shout out. Our goal is to provide every student with a college shirt that they can wear proudly every week. We look forward to observing the excitement in our students as they become more aware and interested in their own college future.

The safety of our community and the achievement of our students are our highest priorities at Kennedy Elementary School.

Our school hours will be from 8:00 – 2:00 p.m. Our office hours will be from 7:15 – 3:30 p.m.

The first day of school is August 3, 2023. Breakfast starts at 7:30 a.m.

Thank you for your continuing support. I look forward to partnering with you and your child this school year in bringing out the best in them. If you need to contact me, please call the office at 209-933-7225 and make an appointment. You may also email me at mchin@stocktonusd.net.

    Respectfully,
