    Welcome Back PYA Falcons,

Due to the current health restrictions, all instruction will occur online until notice.  Although we are unable to meet face-to-face during these uncertain times, counseling services are available. PYA's counseling program and services include classroom lessons, small group counseling, and individual student counseling.

Mission Statement: The Primary Years Academy Counseling Program supports the notion that every student can reach academic success through collaborative efforts of school, home, and community, focusing on teaching students to think critically and independently, and how to inquire with care and logic.

Vision Statement: Your School Counselor will help provide an atmosphere of safety, warmth, and support as PYA students work to reach their fullest educational ability in the areas of academic, personal, and career development. The School Counselor will also commit to helping students to become responsible and productive citizens who respect themselves and others.

    Belief Statements:

    • I believe that all students can learn and achieve academic greatness when encouraged and nurtured in a respectful environment.
    • I believe that nurturing all students' social and emotional well-being will encourage academic development and future success.
    • I believe the school counselor's role is to provide a data-driven counseling program that meets the needs of all students through guidance curriculum, individual student planning, responsive services, and systems support.
    • The school counseling program will promote the following: an understanding of and respect of self and others; problem-solving and decision-making; emotional-management skills; skills for learning; and the influence of academic habits on career success.
