Parent-School Compact

  • It is important that families and schools work together to help students achieve high academic standards and support students in making good choices. Through a process that will include teachers, families, students, and community representatives, the following are agreed upon roles and responsibilities that we as partners will carry out to support student success in school and in life. 

    Administration Pledge

    I agree to carry out the following responsibilities to the best of my ability:

    • Provide leadership in assessing, developing, and monitoring the safe-school plan.
    • Utilize district-level suspension and incident reports as well as site reports to communicate areas of concern to appropriate parties. 
    • Design a school environment that ensures safe traffic patterns within and to and from school and adopt procedures for emergency evacuation and crisis management.
    • Establish a school safety council or school planning team with representatives from school staff, students, parents, and community representatives. This council is responsible for providing advice and making decisions about critically important cases of violence and crime, evaluating the state of school safety, and proposing revisions to the school discipline code and school safety plan as deemed necessary. 

    Staff Pledge

    I agree to carry out the following responsibilities to the best of my ability:

    • Respond to students in a caring and non-shaming manner.
    • Provide consistent and firm guidelines, procedures, and rules regarding student behavior. 
    • Consider the teaching and modeling of pro-social behavior to be as important as the teaching of academic subjects.
    • Display diligent and impartial behavior when supervising students.
    • Use a consistent and prompt manner to recognize students' good behavior and respond to unacceptable behavior with swift and appropriate sanctions. 
    • Participate in the development of a school safety plan, discipline code, and racial, and sexual harassment policy.
    • Play a responsible part in the implementation of such policies by promptly and consistently reporting incidents of misbehavior, sexual, or racial crime, violence, bullying, intimidation, and harassment.

    Parent Pledge

    I agree to carry out the following responsibilities to the best of my ability:

    • I am equal partners with administrators and teachers in the development of the school safety plan and discipline code. 
    • As partners with the school, I will accept responsibility and have equal accountability to ensure that the behavior of my child meets the expected standards as outlined by the site and school board.
    • I understand and accept that zero tolerance behaviors and actions such as sexual or racial crimes, violence, bullying, intimidation, and harassment will result in appropriate sanctions.
    • In order to communicate important information about students, I understand that I am expected to provide and maintain accurate and up-to-date contact information to the school
    • When on campus or attending any school function or activity, I am expected to model responsible and respectful attitudes and actions free from the influence of alcohol or drugs.

    Student Pledge

    I agree to carry out the following responsibilities to the best of my ability:

    • Contribute positively to a safe, orderly school environment and be ready to learn every day.
    • Develop a sense of responsibility for contributing to the improvement of school order and safety and as I progress through each grade level.
    • Understand the increased responsibility of my role as a mentor and model for younger students.
    • Participate actively in the planning, implementation, and enforcement of discipline policy, procedures, and programs.
    • Understand and accept that I am responsible and held accountable for my behaviors and actions.
    • When on campus or attending any school function or activity, I am expected to model responsible and respectful attitudes and actions free from the influence of alcohol or drugs.
    • Understand and accept that zero tolerance behaviors and actions such as, sexual or racial crimes, violence, bullying, intimidation, and harassment will result in swift and appropriate sanctions.
