About the Teacher

  • Hello everyone,

    My name is Oscar A. Benavides, I have been teaching for over 25 years. So far this timeline is an example of my experience

    7 years in Nanaimo-Ladysmith School District in British Columbia, Canada.

    1 year in Oakland, California (California Teacher Internship Program-Project SABER)

    7 years in San Leandro Unified School District

    Almost 11 years in the Stockton Unified School District

     

    I have taught 1st to 8th grade, being 8th grade my favorite grade level. My passion is History and Social Studies. I also have been teaching Language Arts for 3 years and its relation to all subjects.

     

    My academic studies and career include:

    • Malaspina Community College, British Columbia, Canada. I graduated with an A.A. degree in Journalism and T.V. Broadcasting.
    • University of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada - Certification in Agricultural Engineering.
    • Laney College, Oakland, California. I obtained a second A.A. degree in Philosophical Studies.
    • California State University East Bay, Hayward, California, graduated with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts
    • Grand Canyon University, Phoenix, Arizona, Masters in TESOL (Teaching English to Students of Other Languages).
    • Grand Canyon University, Phoenix, Arizona, currently a Doctoral Student in the field of Doctor of Philosophy in General Psychology: Integrating Technology, Learning, and Psychology (Quantitative Research).
