What is the Local Control Funding Formula?

  • California’s 2013-14 Budget Act included legislation to simplify the state’s school finance system. The changes introduced by the new Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) represent a big change in the way California funds school districts. In the past, districts were told where to spend state funds. The money from the state was restricted to specific, so-called categorical programs. Now, districts, including Stockton Unified, will have some flexibility over the programs they support with state funds. Click here to watch a short video about LCFF.
