Election 2020

It is that time again.

4 years has passed and we must vote for our next president again.

When it comes to the election, it is always the spotlight, especially the presidential election. The US election has, historically, always drawn worldwide interest. This time is no different. It is always very interesting looking from the outside perspective. Due to the US being the world superpower, it has drawn many criticisms from the world stage.

A great article by The Conversation has talked about the topic that the US is losing its foothold in the world as a superpower. The author made a great point that people looked at US "through the figure of its president." This means that people look at the US president as its figurehead.

Lately, the ratings of favorable views of the US has gone down significantly.

A Pew study finds that the US is "as low as it has been at any point since the Center began polling on this topic nearly two decades ago."

The picture below shows the graph of their finding

If you want to learn more about this, I highly recommend reading this article where it went more onto details about this. It is a great read and it makes you think critically of the world and gives you more perspective.

Conscious we must

We are at a point in time were one candidate is viewed as for business and the other cares about the environment. It ultimately comes down to a handful of votes in a battleground state.

The outcome of the past needs to be remembered, analyzed, and engaged for the lessons it can teach us about the present.

We must educate ourselves into being aware of what is going on our country. That being said- what have they promised to do to govern America should they be elected?

Below are some of their policies and promises that they've set out for themselves.

Their Policies and Promises

Joe Biden was chosen by President Obama in 2008 to be his Vice President, and now here he is running for President in 2020. Here are some of the promises he's told us:

  • Beat Covid-19 - listen to science and enforce mask usage

  • Tackle the Climate Emergency -

  • Fix Campaign Finance and Government Reform

  • Investing in the Infrastructure

  • Support Essential Workers

Donald J. Trump is running for a second term after serving his first term in 2016-2020

  • Tax Cuts - Is the first major tax reform signed in 30 years.

  • Reshaping the Judiciary

  • Military Spending

  • Cutting Regulations

  • Trade Deals

  • Repeal and Replace

As of November 5th, 2020, Joe Biden is winning in electoral vote. He currently has 264 electoral votes and needs six more electoral votes to win. Trump has 114 electoral votes and need 56 more electoral votes to win. As of votes in general, Biden has 50.4 percents of the votes with 72,488,210 votes and Trumps has 47.9 percents of the votes with 68,927,996 votes.

This election is on track on having the biggest voter turnout in history.

A great article by The Washington Post goes into detail about this.

The article talked about how if the projection holds, 2020 will be the highest since 1900.

To conclude this, no matter what your beliefs are, we must all do our part as citizens of this country. No matter the outcome, we shall do our part in bettering our community and ultimately, our country. Get involved where you can and want, and take part of things, should you something changed. We are all in this boat together and we will sail it together. Even as we face difficulties of today and tomorrow, we still have a dream.
