Message From Dr. Perez

  • Dr. Esther Perez grew up in a farm town in Fresno County, CA.  Educationally, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California, San Diego, a Master’s of Arts in Special Education from Loyola Marymount University (LMU), a Master’s of Arts degree in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies from CSU Northridge, as well as a terminal Doctorate of Education degree also from Loyola Marymount in Educational Leadership for Social Justice. Her teaching career began in Los Angeles where she taught multiple subjects in a self-contained special day class setting at the middle school level.  Dr. Perez then went on to teach as a resource specialist and special education department lead at the High School level for approximately 5 years.  After 9 years of teaching, Dr. Perez went on to serve as the Director of Students with Diverse Abilities (Special Education & EL students) for multiple schools in Los Angeles.  While taking some time out of K-12 to work in higher education supporting teacher education across Northern California and the Los Angeles area with LMU, she then spent the last 4 years as the Executive Director and Principal of a single site public charter middle school in Southeast LA. Dr. Perez is now excited to start a new chapter working with and for Stockton’s youth, the community, and supporting her amazing educators and colleagues in Stockton Unified Schools.
