Dear 7th Grade Community,

My how time flies!  We are already into Quarter 3. Report Cards for Quarter 2 will be distributed early this week. There are three major categories listed on the Report Card. The first category is Performance Task. Performance Tasks include writing assignments. A major portion of 7th Grade is developing an understanding for the different writing genres. Quarter 2 focused on learning to both read and write narratives, while Quarter 3 will focus on writing Argumentative Essays using credible evidence from more than one source. The second catergory is Test and Quizzes. This category focused on student's assessment performance on 7th Grade ELA Common Core Standards. Students are often provided the option to complete a Test Redo, earning 50% of the points they initially missed. Students that fail to take advantage of this option retain their initial grade.  The third category is Class Assignments. Class Assignments include both in class work and homework.

Quarter 3 will have an added focused on Accelarated Reader Quizzes. Students have a preset goal and should be reading daily to reach this goal. A great question for your student is, "Share with me what you have read today?" In order to successfully reach their goals students must read at least 15 pages per night. This should not be a super challenge as the novels are withini their reading level and chosen by the student. Therefore, there should not be the problem of not being interested in the novel.

8th Grade is just around the corner. Supporting students in developing habits that support a successful school experience is vital. Please join me in this effort in requiring that students attend as require, have the necessary supplies and work towards school and classroom goals.  All Quarter 3 assignments can be found in the Google Classroom. Have your student give you a tour of our Google Classroom.

Thanking you in advance for your support
