    Dear SUSD Community,

It is with a heavy heart that I announce my thirty-day notice to resign as Interim Superintendent. This was no easy decision, but due to recent health complications, I must step down to tend to my own personal health.

It has been the most amazing opportunity to serve our students, staff, and community in this position, and a privilege to lead this amazing team of educators, thought leaders, and changemakers.

I take great pride in the work that my administration has accomplished in these past six months. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, my team has risen to meet the challenge by ensuring that ALL students have access to quality virtual instruction and other resources, including food, technology, mental health resources, and other important health updates. We found creative ways to engage with our students and families, and to celebrate our outstanding staff members and the work they do every day. I’m also proud that we have taken a District stand against institutional racism, a decision I hope will improve outcomes for several generations of black and brown SUSD students to come.

I have always been passionate about creating positive and meaningful change for the students of Stockton. Though I will no longer be serving as Interim Superintendent, I look forward to continuing to serve my community in my former role as Director of Educational Services upon my return from a short medical leave.

Serving in this position has required more hours away from my family than I care to admit, so I most look forward to once again spending my evenings with my young son, daughter, and the most amazing wife a man could ever ask for

I can still be contacted via District email at, and look forward to continuing to serve our amazing community.

    Brian Biedermann
