Accelerated Reader

  • Accelerated Reader (AR) is a daily software assessment for monitoring the practice of reading. Students must pass a computer-based reading test with a score of at least 80% in order to be given credit for reading the book.

Million Word Challenge

  • Students are you ready to take on a challenge?

Last year at some of the Stockton Unified School District Schools, Accelerated Reader recorded that students had read 1/2 a million words, 1 million words and even a few students read more that 2 million words.  The record we found was that at one school 13 intermediate grade students read more than a million words.

Well, here at McKinley we know that our students can break that District Record.  We know that we easily have students who are reading more than a million words a year.  The only difference between our school and the other schools is that the students are recording their reading in Accelerated Reader.

So... lets take on the challenge!  How many words are you going to read this year?

    Remember...

    1. Read the Book.

    2. Go to Accelerated Reader and take the quiz

    3. Keep track of how many words you have read!

If you need your passcode...be sure to ask your teacher!
