Mental Health
  • As the onsite Mental Health clinician Kristen Schneider, LCSW, at Stockton High School, I provide mental health services including assessments, individual, group and family therapy, mental health evaluations, case management and other milieu and therapeutic interventions to identified students in the general education and special education settings. I also provide consultation and trainings to District personnel and other community-based organizations working with students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs related to mental illness. Working as a therapist in the school setting has allowed students a level of access to Mental Health Services that they previously did not have due to the multiple and varied barriers facing our student population. I have worked closely with Stockton High Teachers and Staff in identifying students with Social Emotional needs. Specifically, during the pandemic, the teachers at Stockton High were essential in identifying those students struggling with Mental Health concerns, educating them on the available resources and getting them connected to services. As a team we have worked tirelessly in making sure that not only academic concerns are being addressed but the social emotional needs of our students are being met as well as helping to end the stigma surrounding Mental Health services.
